A dancer’s recital is a big milestone — full of excitement, nerves, and lots of sparkle! Whether your child is thrilled or a little nervous, there are simple ways you can help them feel prepared, confident, and ready to shine on stage.

1. Practice Positivity

Leading up to the recital, remind your dancer that it's about having fun and celebrating their hard work — not about being perfect. Positive encouragement goes a long way in easing nerves.

2. Stick to the Routine

Try to keep their recital day as normal and calm as possible. A familiar routine (meals, rest, quiet time) will help your dancer feel grounded before the big performance.

3. Pack and read Like a Pro

Make sure you have read all emails leading up to the recital - all of the information is there. Don't wait until recital day to ask questions if you can't find the information you need. Double-check their costumes, shoes, accessories, tights, makeup, and hair supplies. Pack everything the night before and label each item with their name — it helps avoid last-minute stress/mix-ups backstage.

4. Arrive on Time

Give yourself plenty of time to get to the venue. Rushing can heighten anxiety, while arriving early gives your dancer time to get comfortable and excited with their classmates.

5. Be Supportive to Backstage staff

Let the teachers and volunteers lead — they’re experienced and there to help dancers feel at ease. Your job is to sit back, relax and enjoy your dancer's accomplishments and time on stage!

6. Celebrate the Moment

After the recital, focus on what went well. Celebrate their bravery, expression, and joy — whether every move was perfect or not. Flowers, treats, or a simple hug can make the day feel even more special.

7. Capture the Memories

Take photos and enjoy the moment. Your dancer will love looking back on their recital moments for years to come!

Help them sparkle with confidence, and enjoy every proud moment along the way!
